Small paddle-like instruments are used to compress the eyelids. Cleaning the eyelid margins reduce the inflammatory factors, reduce the bacterial build-up and improves the natural flora along the eyelids. A major improvement is opening the meibomian glands along the eyelids, which secrete oils into the tear film to keep the tears on the eyes.
